About New Horizons Bands of Northern New York

How did New Horizons of Northern New York Start?

Our founding director, Ron Berry, wanted to play tuba in a band and heard about New Horizons International Music Association (NHIMA).  He began attending band camps across the country and decided the North Country needed a program of its own and worked to establish a chapter in Potsdam.  We have been active since 2009 and currently have over 50 members who reside in all areas of St. Lawrence County.  Ron is a past president of New Horizons Music International and he still plays in the tuba section of NHBNNY.

Learn More About Us!

New Horizons Music programs provide entry points to music making for adults, including those with no musical experience at all and those who were active in school music programs but have been inactive for a long period. A New Horizons Music program is inclusive rather than exclusive. There are no auditions. Every person has musical potential that can be developed to a level that will be personally rewarding.

We would love to have you check us out! Feel free to stop in and watch a rehearsal!
